So, I kinda need some help... I'm wanting to make the H in the middle of this a J... but having some trouble with it.

Any advice?

Do you have a pattern program like PC stitch or KG Chart? If you do, you could pattern out the middle where the H goes and make a J instead that way it would give you a guide to work from.

I did it! Fonts and lettering aren't really my forte, but I kind of free-handed it in KG-Chart and then touched it up a little in imitation of the original H. What d'you think? If you've got any suggestions for touch-up or alteration, let me know...

Bought six skeins of 310 and I STILL ran out. /sigh Oh well... Will be good to do some color for a while, and the parchment can wait until I chart the text I want to put in... all of the crest itself is done, though, so that makes me happy. ^_^

I made this for my sister last year. I'm unemployed so I basically did this all day. Let me tell you! I had a headache all the time, it's on 24 or 22 count cloth. I know exactly how you feel. I did all the black outline before I stitched in the colors and I was so tired of black before I was halfway done! I always do the outlines first when I stitch so I almost always mess up the stitches and have to pull them out. When I finish a project I swish it around with slightly soapy water and dry it in the dryer (by itself) and the stretched out holes relax back to their original shape. I also had to make the 'R' myself. I asked for help with the pattern on this forum but didn't get any help so I ended up making this pattern from scratch.
Your piece is looking amazing though. I hope the couple totally appreciates the work you are doing cause let me tell you stuff like that is not easy.
