I was wondering if there is a way to combine scraps of aida or thread together? I think I can just sew the aida but I don't really have an idea for the thread other then just tying the ends. Any suggestions will be much appreciated!
This is for a pattern idea I have for my schools principal who's expecting his first baby. I thought it would be cool to "recycle" for him.

Re: Combining scraps?
It really depends on your materials.
Aida can be pieced together relatively easily as long as its all the same count. You simply overlap them so that the holes line up and stitch them that way.
Thread is a different story, and it depends on what you have.
Wool can be easily joined together at the ends. You merely wet it slightly, fuzz it up a bit and then rub it together again. It's easiest to literally chew both ends and then put them together.
Other thread, not so much. The best you can do with floss and the like is just stop/start with what little pieces you have as you don't really want knots anywhere on your project as it will make it not lie down flat. As well, if you tie the threads together, you can end up with the knot on the front and unless you WANT that look, it's not generally a good thing. Also, you can make unrepairable damage by widening the holes you go through by trying to pull a knot through.

Re: Combining scraps?
I hate to toss all the little trimmings I do to a piece so thanks for asking this! It just never occurred to me that one could combine Aida like that.
