Pattern Making Help

Post by kasura_iome »

I have a picture from spriters resource of all the Pokemon trainers, and I was going to attempt to make a pattern for each of the ones I like.
How do I make a pattern of them without them coming out like a blob of colors??
I understand to put them into paint, but I don't know what the heck I am doing. I think I got lucky with my Yoko one because it was much larger.

Make sure that when you import in the picture into the pattern program that the pattern chart size is the same as the picture size. For example, if your picture is 100 x 100 pixels big, your chart size will be 100 x 100 stitches. This way you are making the program use one pixel for one stitch which is what you want when using sprites.

Yeah, this!

I'm pretty sure I helped you with a similar thing before! You need to crop your images right down so that you're pretty much only left with the sprite (and maybe a little bit of space around it, if you like). Then you do as Servo says and make your pattern the same number of stitches as the image has pixels, eg 100x100. Trying to resize a huge image into the size you want the sprite to be will make the blob effect.

Is this what you wanted to achieve?

Lol, Ok. I think I might understand now. So when I 'zoom in' I can save it like that? I didn't know it changed the image.

That's ok, we will help you as much as we can until you can do it yourself :D

This thread was extremely helpful, btw.
I've made four or five sprites from Arcana Hearts (beacause it is sadly neglected on here) :cray:
They came out perfect too. Can't to be done with Yoko and Poke Love so I can start on them = 3
Thank you so much!
