I was recently told about this program (ie: I don't know what I'm doing). So far I adore it! However I've only used it to chart things by hand. Now I want to convert pictures into charts. Thus, the problems begin.
I started with a basic screen shot of Wolfenstein 3D. It was one of the first video games I ever played so I thought it was a good idea to honor it. Plus since it's old school it should chart fairly well, albeit a little pixely. I found a good shot (below) and began the conversion.

The chart it made is...well...awful. The text at the bottom is a blue blur and the rest of the info bar is grainy at best. I think it's because it a 1:1 conversion? I wouldn't mind taking it higher (although I was aiming for something smallish). Basically I'm willing to sacrifice size for clarity. However after reading the manual I'm no smarter.
Suggestions?

Re: KG chart help
Hi
The problem is you are using a screen shot from the Xbox360 HD version, so that image is 1080P.
KG-Chart only allows you to have 500x500 sized charts max, and stitching something as large as 1080P would be 6 feet tall on 14 count.
You need to get a screen shot of the DOS version which is 320x240, there are some here

Hope this helps

Re: KG chart help
Hint I learned after much trial and error: when you import an image, it's essential for the width (and height) count to be the same as the original width (and height) dot, which is at the end of each row. If you want to resize, do it before you go into KG. After condensing an image, there is more touch-up work that has to be done than if you use a full image.
Basically, the maximum size that KG Chart is going to work with (at least for this image) is 500 wide and 281 high. Just keep resizing the original until KG Chart shows less than that for original width and height. As you condense it more, there will be more cleanup that you will have to do to the project itself, but it'll allow you to get smaller.
I tried to make a version to show you, but I am guessing that I don't have attachment privileges on the board yet. Or I can't figure that out. Hope that helps!!!

Re: KG chart help
Many thanks to both of you! I used a different shot, then reset the size. Perfect on the first try!! Well, almost. It needs some colors changes but I can see all the details and it's not too huge (14.5x9in on 22ct).
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
