NOV/DEC activity?

Post by johloh »

any ideas for nov/dec?

we could do a standard contest, stitch-a-long, another swap (if someone else organizes it :D ) or anything else...

I know some craft sites do chains, where you send one piece of work around and everyone stitches a little bit on it before they pass it on, but that could take forever.

any ideas? I'm always game for something new...

Maybe a "sprite pumpkin" contest? (Who can stitch the best jack-o-lantern)
Current Projects: Legend of Zelda Magnet Set, Mario Kart coasters (50% done - Mario and Peach finished, Yoshi and Luigi or Toad pending)
Finished Projects: Assorted Coasters, Mega Man 2 Robot Master Magnets, Angry Birds Magnets

I kind of like that idea of a challenge!

Wasn't last year about pumpkins? What about horror based games? Castlevania, Ghosts and Goblins, and Splatterhouse are all good material to work with. I just can't think of a jack o' lantern being used within a game.

What about some of the ideas that have been suggested for other challenges, but weren't chosen. Stained glass and zodiac signs were two I remember off the top of my head.

I'd also like to suggest a seasonal theme. One submission that features winter, spring, summer and autumn or any combination of seasons.

last year we didnt really do a competition with pumpkins, it was a "informal pumpkin carving event"

but youre right a carving pumpkin challenge probably wouldnt work. I'm definitely going to do it, and we usually get a couple people...its just not universally popular enough with our members.

the other problem with anything halloween related is we are down to 3 weeks from today, so its kinda limited time wise.

I agree, making it Halloween themed puts everyone behind the gun. The problem with a Thanksgiving theme is that it would exclude the people outside the US - not from entering of course, but just doesn't seem fair to make it themed around a US-only holiday.

Though now that I think about it, a "What I am thankful for" themed activity could be fun, because it never hurts to take time to reflect on what you're thankful for - I know that I personally don't do nearly enough reflection on the good in my life and could use an excuse to focus on it!

Thanksgiving is not a US-only holiday, it is Thanksgiving in Canada today :nod
