My sewing machine was a total ahole this morning. What should have been two two minute repairs, took me almost an hour because I had to figure out why it kept getting stuck. :banghead:

Ugh. That is the worst. There really is nothing worse than fighting with a sewing machine. You have my deepest sympathies.

Today has been annoying as all get-out. My knee has been absolutely killing me to the point where I don't want to walk anywhere because it just hurts. Unfortunately, my classes right now are super-condensed, so missing one right now means missing a lot of information. In addition, we had a session this afternoon that was mandatory, or we'd lost out on points. So I got to spend 40 minutes limping across campus today, trying to keep it as subtle as possible because I hate attracting attention.

Also, that session I had to go to required professional attire, which wouldn't have been quite so annoying if the button on my khakis hadn't fallen off on Tuesday and needed to be sewn back on or if the weather hadn't decided to be a total bitch and come out to -11 degrees Fahrenheit after windchill. Yes, that is a negative sign. And even that wouldn't have felt quite so terrible if we had more buildings on campus, but we've got a huge clearing in the middle that is appropriately named the Tundra.

EDIT: And I'm supposed to take an exam tomorrow electronically, but the exam hasn't shown up on the download list even though I got the e-mail that it's up. My friend got it to download, so I don't know what's going on and I'm starting to panic. I've emailed the woman who sent the information, but it's after business hours, and the exam is supposed to start at 8 AM. Oh great, I think I'm about to start crying again.

Mishatu, I hope you got your exam figured out! I hate when institutions think 'let's be MODERN and make everyone use technology!' and then fail to get the technology in working order for everyone...

I'm knitting a bedspread for my boyfriend based on the banner of the Galactic Empire from Star Wars (ssst don't tell him it's a secret). I'm knitting the logo in the middle in the round and then will knit the rest of the blanket sideways, in two parts. At least, if I ever GET to that point. I now have to unravel the emblem for the second time because the proportions are off (first time was because I managed to not make a flat circle...). I'm at round 49 at 288 stitches and I have to unravel all the way back to round 20 and 96 stitches... It feels like all of my projects recently consist of two steps forward, three steps back.

Look, I don't like work as much as the next person. But here I sit, at my desk, with absolutely nothing to do and nothing in the pipeline, counting the minutes until 4:30, trying to not look like I'm surfing the internet and playing games on my iPhone.

my fiance and i have been together for just over a year now. when we first got together, he drank little to no alcohol and he probably did it while i was at work, since he worked nights and i worked days. he told me he had a bit of a dark side when it came to drinking liquor but that he would be fine if it were just him and me drinking it together here at home, which i thought was perfectly understandable. lately, however, he's been drinking it and then pouring all his frustrations and anger towards me by yelling, calling me weak, spineless, lazy, saying he's sick of all the b.s. of the world, telling me he's going to leave because i won't defend him against my family's disapproval of him even though i have been, etc. i try to ignore it best as i can since i know he probably won't remember much of it by the time he's sober and he's a great guy when he is sober, but he also has a tendency to say these things when he's sober, too...just not yelling. he has called his brother on two occasions (while drunk) asking him to help him move out, and then by the time his brother calls back, he tells him it was just a "lovers spat" and we've made up by then...kind of. mostly he realizes he's really hurt my feelings, starts telling me he loves me, and thinks i'm of the same mindset when i'm still it shock mode and haven't said a word edgewise because i get tongue-tied in arguments and have strived, all my life, in doing the right things to avoid getting into an argument. he says him yelling at me like he does will help make me stronger, but i feel like it's not the right course and it's starting to fray my emotions to the point where i just don't care anymore. i guess what i'm asking this community for is guidance. am i wrong to leave this kind of person, or should i keep going with him in the hopes that if our living situation were to change, we would change with it?

Carand, I'm sorry you're going through this! I'm generally not one to give advice but having been in an emotional abusive relationship before, here I am! What you said scares me. You should never be treated that way by someone who is supposed to love you. I don't care whether that person is drunk or sober. You don't try and make someone stronger but yelling at them about how "weak" they are. I'm sorry but I don't like the way you're being treated and I don't think you should be living in that type of situation. No one should be living in that situation. In the end, it is completely your decision. I am very skeptical about people changing and from what you've mentioned, it doesn't appear that he wants to change. So that's my take on the situation at least. I hope things improve for you!!

carand, what you have described is a very worrying situation. People rarely change, and if they do it takes a long time - it's never overnight. I'm worried that your fiance's behaviour will worsen and it's already unacceptable.
It sounds like you're already considering leaving him, which might be difficult but probably the best for you. That's all you need to think about, what is best for YOU.

Yeah that doesn't sound good. He wouldn't be saying any of those things drunk or sober if he truly cares for you. I'm worried it'll just get worse.
It's down to you of course, you do what's right for you.

carand88 - GET OUT NOW. In my experience, it isn't long before the yelling turns into hitting. You are obviously already contemplating leaving him...sounds like you are just waiting for someone (or several someones) to tell you it's okay. We're telling you it's okay. Go!
