A little while ago, I found some charts on Ravelry for Mario characters. I thought I'd try and incorporate them into a blanket somehow, and as I don't like to do things the easiest way, decided instead of more traditional squares, I'd use hexagons. (Also the charts were for a hexagon shape, so it seemed like a clever plan) It's my first time trying intarsia knitting, which is slightly trickier than I thought it would be. My plan is to make roughly half the hexagons with Mario characters, and half plain (purely because doing all with patterns would drive me mad!) I can also duplicate stitch the patterns onto the plain hexagons if I change my mind. Pic attached of 3 of the hexagons with patterns on, will try to add more as more get done. Decided to try the 3 simplest patterns as new to intarsia, may attempt Yoshi or Mario next for a bigger challenge!

Re: Mario blanket
They look really nice so far! I hope you'll post more pics as you make more pieces!
