Space Invaders Blanket

This is my first post here and my first video game inspired craft project. The photo is poor quality but i will get better ones sorted as soon as I can

i'm a bit of a part time crocheter but I'm raising money for a charity project I'm involved in and a few people I suggested I make some of my popular blankets (all will be going onto the etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/lauradanny). I made a few standard ones and then started to think creatively! Space invaders was my first choice but next on the list is Pacman followed by a Gameboy Colour and then Tetris.

Any comments welcome!

In Spring 2013, I'll be taking part in a project either in Rwanda, Uganda, Botswana or Kenya run by Cricket Without Boundaries (http://www.cricketwithoutboundaries.com/) who are a charity dedicated to helping, educating and developing local communities around the world through the spread and growth of cricket. They are one of the leading cricket development and HIV/AIDS awareness charities in the world. All volunteers are asked to raise a minimum of £750 for the charity in order to buy equipment to take out to leave with schools and clubs to assist local coaches. Any money I make from the sale of these blankets will go toward this via Just Giving. I'm going to credit any buyers as donators on my justgiving page (justgiving.com/LauraDanielsCricket)

that's quite fantastic! I always admire when crocheting can be used to create art, cause if I try to do it it's toootally off. (just a basic stitch or two for me!)

Hope the charity brings in a bunch from your donation. =)

Its only basic stitches - trebles and granny squares just a bit of patience in setting out the design and dealing with lots of changes of wool for the invaders themselves .

Its now gone into the shop along with two non-video game blankets.

Very impressed! I'm only a basic crocheter myself and can't seem to string together anything more complex than a granny square. Great job, hope it makes a bunch of moneys for your charity!

This isnt too much more than granny squares really - the space invaders were a bit tricky to get around and it was my first deviation from simpler projects so I am quite happy with the result!
