This quilt is my first and took roughly 2 weeks. The squares are 2.5" and finish to 2" with 16 colors and has 1920 squares in total.

Quiltings difficulty is very difficult to gauge, IMO. It depends a lot on how good you are with a sewing machine already, and what kind of design you go for. If you go for a more basic block pattern, then personally I think it's * easy until you have to quilt it. Then it's just about following the lines unless you want to hand it to someone else or do something funky.

Realistically, you can make quilts very easily or with a lot of moaning and griping and much of that depends on what kind of a pattern you choose to do.

There are of course people out there who will tell you to truly get quilting, with perfect lines and perfectly matching corners it takes time and skill. I think that's mostly hogwash. Mostly, it takes being willing to not rush through things, although even if you do, you're likely to still come out with something decent. At least, that's what I think if you already know how to use a sewing machine.

Hand quilting is again, just as easy or as hard as you choose to design, but frankly, I cba to do it cause it just takes too damn long. Youd be faster learning to use a sewing machine from scratch and you'd still beat the hand Quilter to the finish line.

Quilting IS more expensive than cross stitch I find. With cross stitch/embroidery a lot of the cost is in building your stash, but once you've got that, it's just some material and for the most part away you go.

Quilting on the other hand, can involve a stash, but that stash costs a lot more. Fat quarters go for much more than thread. You're usually looking at 2-3 meters of fabric minimum for any quilt, and if you want something larger it's often much more than that. It adds up. Fat quarter selections and layer cakes and jelly rolls help a lot as you can a wide variety of just a little bit of stuff but they're still usually upward of 25 quid/dollars/euros. You'll still usually have to find a border fabric and ofc the backing fabric and the batting for in between.

Which I've spent €27 on the jelly roll and about £45 for possible border fabric that I'm still not sure is right. The batting will probably be 12 or so and this is just for a lap quilt. It'll probably be a about 60 inches square.

I have been sewing for most of my life so it was not at all difficult to complete, however; it was my first quilt so planning took some time.

The cost for me was $70 USD, but I work in fabric retail so I know the tricks

I have just started on 3 video game quilts and the tops averaged $12 a piece.

This quilt is made of awesome and win, and if I had it I would totally put it on my bed and love it and hug it and name it George.

I can't sew to save my life, though, so there's not much a chance I'd ever make something like that for myself. Maybe I could do some sort of epic cross stitch someday, and swap with someone else who has an epic quilt of epicness like this, and somehow convince them that they got the better end of the deal

Wow, I loove this quilt! I don't know the first thing about quilting, but this really makes me want to try. It would be the perfect thing to make hang on to until I get my first neice or nephew too Both of my brothers would be thrilled to get something like this for a baby. Yeah, I think I just talked myself into a project for next winter!

I have a picture that I would love to make into a Quilt like this. Can you please advise me on how you were able to figure out the squares? Is there a program that you can use to do it with? If so what is the name of it? I love the Quilt you made and so does my son so that is why I need to know how you figured out the squares.
