This is stunning really. I'm completely envious of anyone who is able to take on a big project like this. My attention span is so short I'm not even sure I'll be bothered to finish this post.

Hey whaddaya know. I made it. :D

Keep it up!

I've been kind of busy lately, but in my free hours I've kept making those blue squares, until I finally, finally.. finished that upper left corner! :yahoo:

And then two days ago I found orange wool, so I filled in the holes immediately :D. It looked so good that I had to keep going, so yesterday I crocheted pretty much all day and finished his tail and hand. Yay for motivation!

I'm so excited about getting this far. I can't wait to finish it.
I think when I finish I will give it a black fleece backing to make it look even better (the back is a bit rough right now). Just don't know what would be the best way to attach it. Don't know if just sewing with a sewing machine will work. Maybe sewing it on by hand with wool as thread? Any suggestions?

Thanks :D
I noticed it has been a while since I updated this. The reason is simple: classes have started again.. So the time I have to crochet and do the mini craft swap is getting less every day. Anyway, I did manage to get some work done during those few hours watching TV.

Now he just needs feet, a left arm and a whole lot of blue.
It's getting more and more difficult to attach the squares, because it is getting so enormously big and heavy.. it now measures 95 by 110 cm, which is 37 by 43 inch. I do love seeing it come together though!

It's not very difficult to learn so give it a try sometime! The fastest way to learn is just to have somebody show you or maybe watch a video. I tried learning from a book but the drawings really confused me. Then I found somebody who could explain it to me and 10 minutes later I was (slowly, but still) crocheting :D
Working on this blanket has been great practice for me, I keep getting faster and now I hardly have to look at my hands anymore.

I've been crocheting and Knitting for 15 years and I never ever thought of using the blocks to make "pixels" of a Sprite... Wonderful idea and your doing a great job, what stitch do you use to make such a full block? It looks like a Garder stitch. And how many skeins of yarn are or have you been using?

God dangit if you inspire me to make a chocobo one your the first to see it XD. But I think I'd make it out of Granny squares. With work I don't have a whole lotta time to make every row a full fabric one. OH!!! even better, a stockinette stitch... That would be so cool and really show off chocobo feathers.

But I really love how yours looks and you are VERY dedicated to the piece. Best of luck in finishing and I'll be peeping in every now and again to see how it's coming along! As for your black fleece attachment, you might be better off doing the wool due to the fact with it being heavy and big, the threads may break. While wool and hand sewing will add strength, and if it ever detaches. You can have a easier time reconnecting it.
