Crochet/amigurumi

Post by benjibot »

I'm intrigued by the idea of making amigurumi, but I know only the barest minimum about crochet in as much as I know it require a hook rather than needles. I don't see myself making a big habit of it, but there's one thing I'd really like to make. I've you've looked at my stuff you can probably make a pretty good guess as to what that might be.

If anyone has any tips, tutorials, or book suggestions to share I'd love to hear 'em. Read 'em. Whatever.

I watched my mum crochet as a child and it intrigued me too (she also knit and I have no interest in it - I can't I've tried).Maybe starting it with the basics for us noobs to start would be good too.

Wouldn't mind having a simple tutorial on that. Thanks.
I wouldn't mind trying a simple blanket. You can't have too many blankets!!!

I loved the idea of it too! I picked up a few books at Barnes and Noble and started with those. Though for me the writing and pictures didn't click. I looked online and found this awesome step by step video tutorial that shows you all the big stuff you need to know.

I'm looking at getting a hook but I have no idea what I'm looking at. Anyone recommend a good starter hook?? I'm going to try a basic blanket first.

That might be just what I'm looking for. Thanks!

I'll need to pick up some supplies, and my holiday crafting has made me ever so tired of going in craft stores, but I'll might give this a go once I've finished my last couple of pending projects.

I've started crocheting yesterday and I used the tutorial above. Its a great tutorial. I've only gone through the first two videos so far and my lines are getting better and better, I'm even getting straight edges (I was starting to make a triangle at one point). My intention is to make a square then eventually make a blanket. This will turn into a sprite blanket at some point, I'm certain of that.
