My Stitchings (Zelda Title Screen and Pokemon) (32K Warning)

Post by Blink190 »

Hi, this is my first post on here, and I just wanna show off what I've done so far : )

First is the Legend of Zelda Title Screen that was posted on SpriteStitch a few months back. I started it, did about half, put it aside for a few months, and then went back to it and finished it about last week. Like everything else I do, it's a half-stitch, I'm not terribly fond of cross-stitching myself. I also have a bunch of pictures of the Zelda screen as I went along with it, mostly half-completed pictures. It actually makes a cool slideshow to see how it developed over time.

Because framing is so expensive here in America, I plan on sending that to my grandparents in Greece to get it framed there. Instead of spending about 300 bucks here, I'll be spending about 80 Euros there.

I also looked up that Pokemon stitching site that was posted a few weeks ago, and did a few from it, including Cyndaquil, Charizard, Bulbasaur, and Articuno. I've got a bunch more that I wanna do and I'll be working on those eventually too.

And now my current stitching, the Oracle of Ages in-game map of Labrynna. I took the idea from the Link's Awakening map posted a few weeks ago, and with Oracle of Ages being one of my favorite Zelda games, the idea to do it's map was a no-brainer for me. I'll keep posting pictures on how it turns out as I work on it.

I hope you guys like what I've made and I'd love to get feedback from everyone! : )

It's interesting that you're using the needlepoint technique on cross stitch fabric. That must really pop out. I've only ever done it on plastic canvas. It all looks great. Can't wait to see that map done ;)

There's specific needlepoint canvases for this stuff? >.>

I just usually go and buy any canvas I find and just stitch, I don't really know too much about specifics with what I should use or not >.<

There is 14 count plastic canvas the size of most cross stitch fabric, but it's not that common and only comes in small sheets. Generally needlepoint is stitched on that, and with yarn at bigger counts. But don't worry, what you've done looks really great. I might try it on the fabric now too. Besides, doing what you 'should' isn't always as fun as 'breaking the rules' XD

Haha thanks

I went to michael's and got the canvas for the Zelda one, but then realized that the canvas piece I had gotten wasn't big enough for it, and the store didn't have anything larger than the one I had bought. So I made it harder on myself and went and bought more pieces of canvas and stitched them all together to get it to that size. I don't plan on doing something that big again for a while. After I finish the Oracle of Ages map, I might try the Link's Awakening one, and the guy who did the LA map did a map of the first world in Mario 3, so I might make that my next huge project.

Whats the Size of your Zelda Piece?? I'm sure you can buy online very cheap so there's no need to make like more hard for yourself. I love your work and I can't wait to see it framed.

Thanks! : )

I just went looking online and can't really find anything too cheap. Maybe it's just me >.>

My Zelda one measures the same dimensions as were posted on the site, 18.29" W x 16" H or 256 x 224 stitches. The Mario 3 World 1 map measures the same, so I won't be doing that one for a while

Your projects look amazing! Congratulations!

I suggest www.abcstitch.com for canvas. Look under fabrics. I think its called Mono-canvas. :) Not affiliated with the store, just a happy customer.

Oh wow. I'm glad to see someone finally finished a Zelda title screen. The half stitch seems to work just fine. I'm assuming you're still using DMC thread? How many strands do you use?

I absolutely love Cross Stitch Ninja's massive Mario and Zelda maps that you reference. I'd love to tackle one of those some day myself. I think they're on 18-count Aida fabric. I'm unfamiliar with this mono canvas but intrigued.
