Smash Bros Blanket

Post by stinajung »

This is my first post on this site, actually first ever on any forum. I got inspired by this site, and I used the Smash Bros cross stitch pattern and created a crochet blanket. Image

Wow  that is awesome.. It's huge!
Did you do it all in one piece? Because I don't seem to see individual squares.

Great job :good:

Whoa! That is one fantastic blanket!

It's all done in single crochet? o.o I'm curious how long it took you as well! Regardless, though, that is a smashing (hoho) sweet project to start the site off with!

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. The blanket was done in single crochet, and it is one large piece. I considered doing individual squares, but I liked the idea of one whole piece. Even though it is much harder. I made this as a christmas present for my brother. I started about 2 months before christmas and finished christmas morning at about 5. I worked on it almost everyday, sometimes I got lazy, for about 2 hours per day except the last day where I worked on it for about 7 hours.

May I ask what the back looks like? Something like this looks fun to do, but I can't remember if crocheting in one big piece makes a decent back-side or not. And what did you do about all the colors? (Sorry about all the questions, I get curious :zelda)

When I first started the blanket I took the time to weave in all the ends from all the different colors. The effect on the back was pretty much a mirror image, but that just became too time consuming. I thought I would weave all the ends in when I finished, but that didn't happen because it would have taken way too long. So I ended up getting a large piece of fabric and sewing it to the back.

The color transitions are just so perfect! Did you use tunisian crochet?
