Patapon Pattern Help

Post by pinkcupcake369 »

Hello everyone! Hope your holidays are great!

My boyfriend and I have been trying to figure out KG Stitch and Pixlr to create our super awesome patterns. We are googling for our favorite pictures, and then trying to resize them in pixlr. We are using ONLY png type images.

The problem we're having is getting it to retain its quality. Let's say I want it to be 12" width, and using 14 count Aida cloth. So, I use the pixel width as 168. I save it, then try to import it into KG Stitch. Then, it turns out super blurry and completely loses all of its clarity.

PLEASE someone tell me how to fix this. I have tried with multiple pictures, and lots of the pictures we use (especially if we get something with words). It just looks blurry. Can you tell me step by step how to make it so it retains its quality and looks good!

PS...the picture I saved from online IS a .png file. For some reason when I try to save it, it keeps it as a JPG. I also don't get that. If I change it to a PNG, KG will not let me open the file. *frustration*

Thank you in advance!!!

The best way I have found to keep the picture quality is to save it as a .bmp file. I use a free program called paint.net to first pixelate the picture, resize it and then save it as a .bmp file. The picture quality stays the same and the colors are clearer than using a .png file. For example your picture looks like this when it's resized and pixelated:

[The extension bmp has been deactivated and can no longer be displayed.]

Then I import it into KG Chart using the specifics you gave and it turns into this:

Now I haven't messed with anything in this graph. I would then go back through it and clean up the lines a bit since this is only in black and white. With a colorful picture I just let KG Chart do its thing and haven't had a real problem with it.

Hope this helps.
