Ok, so it's been very nearly a year since I last posted... Although the project lay dormant for the most part, I picked it up a few times and plugged away at it here and there. I got a LOOOOOT accomplished in the past two or three weeks, though. Thought I'd share ;)

Yes, I've managed to finish dark world...FINALLY!!!!!!!! It's down to 51 colors and 54,528 stitches. I also recently got a new laptop. Did you know KG Stitch is no longer freeware? Good thing I saved everything I ever downloaded ever. I would've had a broken heart had I gotten this far only to be unable to continue without purchasing the software needed to keep going!

To give you an idea how much I have left to stitch:

This is just incredible! It must feel great to be over halfway there :). Out of interest, what size fabric are you stitching on?

Thank you everyone! It seems to be self motivating at the moment. The project is so huge that working on it doesn't give too much feelings of accomplishment because it's so easy to look at how much I still have to do. However, as I was working on the last row of Dark World, it felt so much more like I was actually making progress than before. I'm still expecting a few burnouts on Light World, and it'll probably still take forever to finish, but I *WILL* finish eventually!

The fabric is 18 count black aida. I ordered a yard of it, and cut it in half for the width. On the plus side, next time I want to work on 18 count black, I have tons of fabric left! Ironically, when Hubby encouraged me to do this monstrosity, it was part of motivating me to finish a large light house project I had bought about three years before. By large, I mean 1/3 the size of Dark World. I still haven't worked on it.

In my family, we call that "craft storage"...we have various projects (cross-stitch, paper crafting, knitting, crocheting, and quilting) either started or waiting to start. We figure it will all get done eventually :nod

Your project looks wonderful!!! Good luck finishing it up!!!

This is so awesome!! You are doing awesome !!! YOUUUU ARE AWESOME!!!

I too am doing a LTTP Map but it is only light world. I thought getting a pattern made at the 3foot by 3foot size was nuts but yours yours takes my breath away. Great going !!
