Re: APR-JUN: Big Swap!
To whoever has me, I am leaving tomorrow afternoon to visit my husband in Canada for a week so if you have sent or are sending, don't be concerned if you don't see anything from me over the next week.
It may be on more doorstep when I get home. Yay!

I can't speak from experience about fires but we do tend to get a lot of them over here (Australia: the only place on Earth where one half of the country is under water, and the other half is on fire!) so I do hope you stay safe PixelPockets!

Re: APR-JUN: Big Swap!
I'm actually looking at a big mountain fire practically in my backyard. The mountain I normally see out my back window is completely obscured by smoke. If it crosses the road at the base of the mountain, we'll have to evacuate. So I'm sending good thoughts your way, Pockets.

Lovely gifts Msstitcher, well done !!!
I think I'll be ready to bring my package to the postal office on Saturday morning (deadline !)
I've only 1 small gift out of 5 to finish today, and some finishing work for tomorrow (including wrapping everything, and writing a card...).
I'm so impatient to sent it... and a bit nervous too

Terrible about the fires.
Stay safe!
I was looking up customs forms last night, and it looks like kind of a nightmare. Has anyone done one before? How specific do you really have to be in the descriptions (the instructions say you can't write anything generic like "food" or "samples" so I'm assuming "crafts" is out) and do I have to weigh each item before I get to the post office or will they do it for me? And will my partner be able to read what I'm sending them before they actually open the box? Sorry for all the questions, I'm a noob at international shipping.

Re: APR-JUN: Big Swap!
I don't know if this applies over there, but when I send stuff to the USA I have to fill out a little form. I generally put something like "Cross stitched picture" or whatever I'm sending. I also never bother with weighing, but I do usually have to give a value for the item(s). I also mark it as a gift.katdun wrote:I was looking up customs forms last night, and it looks like kind of a nightmare. Has anyone done one before? Like I said I don't know if it applies over there but I imagine it will be similar(ish). Ask at the post office, they would know best, really!

Re: APR-JUN: Big Swap!
I always put a generic concept of what it is, like "fabric container" really, they don't care if it's a final fantasy thing, or if you're sending a plastic bucket... they just need to know roughly was sort of materials are in the package so you aren't sending contraband! =)katdun wrote:Terrible about the fires.Stay safe!

but don't worry about the slip, it's really easy. You put both names and addresses on it, the rough description, and anything you aren't sure about you just ask the person when you take it in to mail it.
