Punch Out Charity Square Progress

Post by kryssiecat »

Hello everybody! I'm at work and there's not much to do so I thought I'd create this thread since I'm taking a picture of my cross stitch every day. I really liked how Lucradan has his thread about his progress so I'm kind of copying him a bit, hope he doesn't mind :D

Day 1 - April 28
Got on a plane to fly to work at 5PM and stitching commenced. I stitched through the plane ride and the subsequent bus ride to camp. I skipped dinner and just went to my room and kept stitching and stitching and stitching. I think I finally went to bed at about 1AM. Happy with the progress! :)

Day 2 - April 29

Worked all day and stitched at night. Got more of the trainer's body done and started on the boxer too.

Day 3 - April 30

Brought my cross stitch to work. Just so I could look at it (*cough*stitchundermydesk*cough*). Brought out my trusty, favourite ruler and ... dismay! It's 96x96 squares but 3/4" too big! :banghead:

Day 3 - April 30 CONTINUED

So I pulled some out, sadness. I fixed the top, the black part the city is sitting on so it measures 6" across. I pulled out a little bit to the right of the boxer and the start of the chain fence on the left. I just didn't have the heart to pull out everything to the left of the trainer so I started from the bottom and worked my way up so I could figure out how much I'd have to pull out to get the height to 6", which is going to be a lot unfortunately. I'm pretty sure the only thing that will remain is one black line at the top, there'll be no buildings visible eventually.

Day 4 - May 1

Not too much accomplished, more progress on the bottom part. You can see the bike wheels clearly now, and the boxer's feet.

Day 5 - May 2

I did more of the black at the bottom. Then I pulled out the remaining stitches to the left of the trainer. Felt kind of poopy, like I hadn't made much progress so I completed more of the black at the bottom for that accomplished feeling. Trainer's pants are now done. The width now measures 6". I'm running out of black, silly me only brought one skein with me, but I'm confident I'll have enough to finish.

Looking good, it'll look even better once you get some colour in there. I love the feeling of chucking some colour on a black and white canvas. :)

I love how you recorded your progress! Good luck!

Day 6 - May 3

Finished most of the boxer's body and what's to the right of him. Did the third fence post and almost finished the chain. Started to re-do what's to the left of the trainer.

Day 7 - May 4

THE BLACK IS DONE! And there's how much black I had left over since I only brought one skein with me to work. I could have used some of what I have to pull out of the top if I needed to though. I had to pull out a bit of the flower box thing below the middle fence post due to a miscount.
