Blarg n' Mario theme

I am looking to get a picture i put together done in a simple color scheme format for my friends birthday present.
Wanting to make it so that it fits within a 5x7 frame by the time I'm done.

Also, I want to do a border between the 4 corner pieces, but want to do something simple, but 2 or 3 color. I am realativly new to this kind of project, so any suggestions or patterns i could consider would be very appreciated as well
