My most recent crocheted piece. This is a portrait of my cat Trixy. The photograph I used is next to the finished piece. I will build a simple wood frame, wrap this piece around and staple it to the back I think. I'll first crochet a black border around it so on the edges, it just is plain black and none of her portrait gets stretched over the edge.
What do you all think? :-) I'm having fun doing crocheted portraits.

Thank you everyone!
I've been super busy lately, I just finally closed on my first home on 4/30/2013! I will be framing this tonight though, and as soon as I get pictures of it framed I will post them. I think I will enter this piece into an art competition which is coming up this month. Wish me luck! :-D

This is *so* cool! did you chart it out, or go freehand?
Working on:
Retro X & Y! - lost the pattern and fabric, but it's resurfaced ...and i've lost it again lol
Attempting Diamond Painting
Making like three crochet blankets at once #nolife
slowly amassing floss for the old-style Epic Pokemon
OMG! It's glorious! I didn't even know you could make patterns like this with crochet. Makes my meager crocheted scarves seem like the work of a baboon! Did you chart this out? It seems like maybe you could do 1 single crochet stitch = 1 pixel?
Hi Arkani and Monkeypeaches,
Yes I do chart these out, it would be soooo hard to do without a pattern! I use graph paper and 1 square = 1 single crochet.
This piece was accepted into the Grand Valley Artists, Inc Spring show! So it is currently hanging on the wall there among other art. Pretty cool! I have a Siberian Tiger piece that I entered into a different show, but it was rejected. I'm currently trying to get it into ArtPrize in Grand Rapids though. :-) We will see if someone wants to host it! Its such great fun! I'll make a new post with my Siberian Tiger art.
Thanks everyone!

Oh awesome Monkeypeaches! I didn't realize you were in GR! Very cool. If you ever want to get together for coffee there are tons of places around! I love Biggby and meeting new people with similar interests.
Did you know that LowellArts is doing a yarn-bomb event? I adopted a tree already! If you crochet or knit you should totally do it with me! It will be good fun!
