mfay wrote:Are you actually doing four stitches per pixel of the original image? Just how big is your fabric? (Sorry, no useful advice - I've been working on a 1:1 version of the original Zelda title screen, but I'm not even half done with that yet ...)
It totally is 4 stitches per pixel. Thing's gonna be massive but that is what I want. I want a poster sized cross stitch of the title screen of one of my favorite games of all time.
Thanks for the encouragement too!

I haven't updated in a while so I thought I'd share my progress. Here you go.
Finally done with the first page (page 2) and I have moved on to page 5. From here on out, I'll stitch where ever the floss takes me instead of doing page by page.

what are you planning on doing with it?
I will frame it and it will be a prized possession!
As a side note, after finishing the first page, I have come to sad realization that the sky colors are complete *! Fortunately, that is only about 1/6 of that first page BUT I do need to pull all those stitches and re do it. I have found the colors that match (at least I think I have) and in the process found Anchor floss which the entire sky will be made from. The rest will be DMC floss.
Just started sampling the new Anchor colors on the sky next to the "Z" and it looks good. Here's keeping my fingers crossed.

End of August Progress. I have about got the "Z" completely outlined. Got bored and moved on to the sword. I am still not sick of this design so I am taking that as a good thing.
Also, I am about half way on taking out the sky that I had completed on the first page of work. Note the color difference. You can see it on the left side right where the mountains meet the sky. I have put in the new color. The new coloring is in on the right side of the piece too.

Amazing piece! I get so inspired by seeing large projects like this. It's coming along wonderfully, and I hope you continue to enjoy it right to the end of your project!

It really means a lot to hear this encouragement! I look at this insane thing I'm doing and think, "This is ridiculous. Wouldn't it be easier to stop and get something more manageable, you idiot?"
However when I can post progress on these boards and get the small encouragements, that means so much! Thank you!
I really do love the different portions of this piece. The letters are a pain to do with all the different colors in the fill of the letter. However, while doing this cross stitch, that is a good contrast with the monotony of the blue sky that is pretty much one solid color. I've been working on finishing up the sword and I would say that the hilt is about 50% done now. But I'm off to a weekend full of training so it won't be touched again until at earliest Saturday night.
