I must be crazy...Both LTTP maps WIP

Post by vtfitzc »

I've cross stitched off and on for much of my life, but very rarely have I ever finished a project (until recently). Several years ago, I was given a kit for a very large light house that I've been working on very off and on ever since. In an attempt to get my remotivated, my husband bought me a scroll frame and a couple of small kits. Looking for something awesome to pay him back with, I stumbled on Servotron's LTTP Light World map. Knowing that it was his favorite game growing up, I decided to make it for him. And then he had to open his big mouth. "What about the Dark World? is there a map of that" I promised I would make whichever one he wanted. Somehow, the compromise that I would do both was settled upon. Then to seperate out the two worlds nicely, I borrowed Johloh's LTTP title screen, paired it down and cleaned it up.

Here's what it'll look like:

Of course I'm moving this weekend, and am in the process of finding a job, so it may take forever, but I will eventually finish it. Also hopefully, posting it on here will help motivate me to keep working.

Here's my progress after three days working during packing breaks:

That is going to be awesome!!!!!

Out of curiosity - if you're working on both at once, how do you decide which project to work on when you sit down to do it? I have a hard time deciding which color to work on next, I would need more hands to work on more projects at once - I would start to feel guilty if I was neglecting one project, and I would be worried that I would hurt the other project's feelings...

Definitely post WIPs for both - I'm excited to see them when they're done!

I usually start with colors with large blocks to get as much out of the way as possible...but...this project is just too big to attempt that. What I did was print out all 36 pages, and I just started with the middle one. I'll do the whole middle row first, just because that's the easiest and will give me the top of dark world and bottom of light world to start branching out.

My inlaws mistook my passing question about scrolling frames in a store for serious interest, so they bought me one, which will make going by rows super simple. I'll probably do Dark World first, because I like the colors in Light world a lot better lol

I'm currently working on the Dark World map with the Light World to follow, but I think you just put my map to shame. This is going to be amazing! I will definitely be following your progress.

Keep up the good work! :clapping:

LTTP is probably one of my favorite games ever, and I've been considering a few LTTP epic projects of my own. Well, when I feel confident enough to get to that point at least. I'll definitely be watching this project. ^_^

Despite the fact that we've been crazy busy, I managed to get some more done. I did the math (yes, I'm that much of a geek) and I'm 1.2% done...which means if I keep going at my current rate, I'll be done in about...4 years  ....ugh...

Maybe I'll pick up the pace! lol

I'm glad I'm not the only one who "does the math" to figure out how far along I am! It makes me feel accomplished even when I have only stitched a very small area!
