A technique that I've come to like for large pieces is to flip the image (left to right) on my computer and bead it backwards. Then you can iron it as much as you want to close all of the holes. The other side will go unironed and will be the show side. Sure, there are holes on the front, but I prefer it because it's uniform and doesn't glare as much when the light hits it.
