Types of Aida

Has anyone else noticed size variability in different brands of Aida? I bought fabric from Walmart (stitchables brand), and though the chart listed that the pattern on 18 count would fit into a 5x7 frame, my end result is slightly too big. I'll need a 6x8. Is it my chart program counting wrong? or the difference between cheap walmart cloth and going to an actual craft store?

I recently bought some 28 count evenweave (from a craft store) and had the same problem - what I had calculated didn't fit in the frame. When I counted it, turns out it was 28 vertically, but like 26 horizontally. It was my first time using evenweave, is this standard or was it a fluke?

Not all fabric is created equally. If youre looking at even weave, I recommend Zweigart.
Unfortunately, you really do get what you pay for most of the time.

I agree. You really do get what you pay for. And Zweigart makes excellent quality materials.
Also, I have had some wonderful fabrics from Permin of Copenhagen too.
