Do you frame with or without glass?
I've seen cross stitchings framed with and without the glass covering it. What are your opinions? I usually frame it with the glass, but I think it would look nicer without it. A concern of mine though is dust, etc. collecting on my stitches

In wooden frames, with glass. In flexi hoops and things like that, without glass.
Depends on the project, really. And how it looks at the end!

So far I've just framed mine like photos in a frame with glass to put on the wall.
Hope this helps

I'm almost 50/50 for framing with and without glass. A lot of commissions who want me to get their project custom framed at a Michael's or wherever opt for no glass because it's cheaper, honestly. In a frame I buy off the shelf, it depends what looks best for the project.

In glass, every time.
I was given a stitching that was framed without glass (custom frame was beautiful) but the stitchings ended up collecting dust, which, by the time I noticed, was pretty much impossible to properly remove. Almost spoiled the piece tbh. So I got it covered in glass and make sure everything I want to last gets covered too.

Thanks for all the responses! I'll probably just stick with glass. I asked this same question on Regretsy and one person suggested acrylic spacers between the glass and stitching so it doesn't press your stitches against the glass. I'll probably do that for my Mario map WIP, if I ever finish it
Oh and I'm also super allergic to dust, so I don't want to end up having to put a stitching in storage because I'm allergic to it lol

the acrylic spacers are a great idea.
Glass certainly protects the project best!

If you're worried about it pressing against the glass, you can also try matting. The mat board will keep it off the glass and gives it a professionally finished look.sublimelmf wrote:Thanks for all the responses! I'll probably just stick with glass. Re: Do you frame with or without glass?
When I got my Monopoly board framed, I also chose to have it put under glass. Not only so that I can use it when I want to play monopoly (which isn't all that often), but I have put so much work into that project, that I wouldn't want anything to happen to it. Not just dust, but so many mishaps can occur (ketchup packet squirting everywhere, spilled soda, other miscellaneous stuff). These things may seem silly since it will be on the wall, but lets be honest: we've all experienced these mishaps at some point or another. I would literally cry if something stained my Monopoly board.

Re: Do you frame with or without glass?
I ALWAYS put glass in. It stops the sun taking the colour of the thread.
But I always put in matting thanks to Eliste. It really makes it look professional.
