Hi! NOOB here with a couple of questions about designing..

I've read through the threads on the various types of software but I still haven't found the info I'm looking for (and if I've missed it somehow and a post on this exists, i apologize).
1) is there a way to incorporate separate elements into one design to create a new scene/1 pattern? Specifically, I'm interested in using 10-count plastic canvas to make a cross stitch tissue box with Mario sprites/a scene from SMB3. Id like to be able to take Mario, a koopa, a goomba, etc and the backgrounds, landscape elements, etc to create a scene that will wrap around or just fit on the side of the box. I'm not sure how to take all these elements and put them together into one scene.
2) is there some sort of master list or way of finding out what DMC colors are used for what, ie, Kuribo's boot is DMC shade ____, Kirby's pink is DMC____?
TIA for looking and replying and if this info has been posted elsewhere and I've missed it, again I apologize. I'm so glad I found this site! I thought I was the only crazy person who liked to express my love of nerdy things through crafts.
