How do I make the actual metal piece of the necklace?
The place where I put the cross-stitch into. I've seen a lot of cross-stitch necklaces on this site and I'm wondering where you get the actual empty frame for it from. Anyone have an idea?

I made one as a gift, and I used this: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/prod ... _10209732a
But you should be able to find some similar pendants in a craft store or online!

frame pendants are "in" right now - I've seen them at Hobby Lobby and Michaels.
Their online sites do not list them though...

The pendant I got for this: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4148 I found at Michael's in the beading section. There they have all kinds of jewelry findings, like pendants, chains, ribbons, charms, and the little tiny metals hoops you need to connect the pendant to the chain. It would be helpful, though not necessary, for you to have needle nosed pliers too. They have a bunch of jewelry making tools in that section too.
I may eventually try to make my own frame pendant, but I haven't ventured out that far yet.

That's a very nice pendant, starrley. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out Michael's when I have money to spend. Also, does Michael's carry a lot of different colors for embroidery floss? I have a few patterns I want to try, but I don't have the necessary colors for it.

They do indeed, but their prices are generally higher than Joann or Hobby Lobby. I don't know if you have a Hobby Lobby where you live, but they're the cheapest.Eliste wrote:YesJack Lias wrote:does Michael's carry a lot of different colors for embroidery floss?

I live in Canada. The Hobby Lobby store locator on their website doesn't seem to allow for Canadian searches, so it's probably an American-only store.starrley wrote:They do indeed, but their prices are generally higher than Joann or Hobby Lobby.
