Pets & Cross Stitch

So, I have cats - and they shed...

How do any of you who have pets deal with stray hairs on projects? I thought of just using one of those pet roller things, but I don't want to fray the thread by doing it all the time... But if I don't, I'm worried about stitching stray hairs into the project and not being able to get them out

I make sure the area I am working in is as fur-free as possible, but it doesn't seem to matter how much I vacuum, dust, etc... there are still one or two hairs floating around that land on my fabric.

Anybody have a genius way of keeping pet hair off projects, while being nice to the stitches?

I have the same problem. 5 cats don't mix with projects well, especially when they play with threads! Anyway, i haven't found a good way of keeping the hairs off but if i ever do get some on the projects i found that sellotape is best, as it is not too strong to pull at things but strong enough to pick up loose hairs.

If anyone has a way of keeping hairs off completely i would be interested to know how!

Do you know those rollers designed to brush/pick up lint off suits? I find those work really well. They're designed not to really tug too much at the fabric, but they still pick stuff off. Failing that, I have actually hoovered my projects before ><

I have two cats and a dog (and one of the cats is half persian, so yeeeah... hair EVERYWHERE) and I have always just tried to watch my stitches and make sure I don't stitch any hair into them... although I'm pretty sure the last one I finished ended up with one or two anyway lol.

I can't think of any way to keep them off completely - even if you stitch in a room where the pets aren't allowed, the hair will go in on you.

That's a really good point - I have to remember that other people will not be staring at my project for hours at a time with a critical eye.

I try to pull them out as I find them (you never realize just how many cat hairs are on your shirt til you start stitching...) but if I let them go for too long they end up getting pretty solidly stitched into the design >.<
For the most part if it's not a black hair in a white area... I just let it go.
