Ironing Alternatives

Post by amneufeld »

Did a search but ironing is so commonly discussed on the forums, so if it's a repeat I apologize. Might be a silly question, but I'm curious if anyone has tested any alternative to ironing cross stitch patterns after they are washed. I was debating putting it into a pillowcase and tossing it into the dryer on air only to get the hoop wrinkles out as at the moment I don't have access to my iron. Anyone try this or have thoughts on how successful it would be?

I would only be afraid of the cloth or threads shrinking if you put it in the dryer, even if it's only on air dry. While you are ironing your fabric, it stetches as well as gets the wrinkles out. Stretching the fabric makes it a lot less floppy (more rigid) which helps with the framing process as well. I've never used anything else. Sorry I couldn't help with your question!

No, that is helpful, thank you very much. Been also reading the washing tips, so my list of things to get is growing, since I have no clear liquids!
