Make sure to pick good magnets. You might think that's obvius and I'm silly to write about it but it can be tricky. I bought and used magnets I thought would work fine. I tested them on different metalls and then glued them to my projects. What I found out is that although they worked fine by themself, with the added weight of the plastic canvas and thread it stayed on the fridge but wasn't very good at keeping papers up and I want to use them for more then decoration. Forturnately I had used a watersoluble glue so I could remove them. Then I bought new bigger and of course more expensive magnets and tested one to make sure it worked.

The only problem I have found is that sometimes they seem 'dusty' from the machining, so I usually wipe them with a damp cloth first, and they can also scratch your surface, so I use a thin layer of sticky vinyl on them as well. I wouldn't say they are EXTREMELY strong, but one magnet is sufficient to hold several pictures or similar items on our fridge and so for about 13 cents a piece they're pretty solid.
