I don't really know how to phrase this, so bear with me.
If you have a pattern, using KG-Chart mind you, and you see that the simplest pixel size is, say, 9 stitches by 9 stitches, is it possible to reduce that pixel size to 4 stitches by 4 stitches easily for the whole pattern? How would you go about doing that?

If you got the source image, you could open it with gimp and scale it down. Then you could import it in kg.

That's true, I still don't know how to figure out how big I'd want it based on that alone though. Maybe this is just a personal problem I need to figure out on my own.

Re: Figuring out pixel size?
What I did for the Doctor Who face clock pattern my husband and I did was first decide how big I wanted it, what size aida would work best for the relative size and details I wanted, and then went from there.
Does that help? I'm not a master pattern maker, but I'm still learning as well. My husband does most of the grunt work while I import it into KG and double check the colors and attempt to do some clean up (although I messed one up and he had to go back and redo what I did.

It makes some sense yeah, I think if I practice it a few times I'll start to understand it. I'm not the fastest learner in the world but I think I understand what you mean. How do you choose what count aida will make the picture look best? I always pick the aida depending on how big I want the overall picture to be.

Size is a big factor. Also, like for my Doctor Who clock, the image had a lot of detail that I didn't want to lose, so my train of thought (whether it's right or not) was "I want these somewhat small, but I need the details. 18 count will make them smaller, thus I can make them bigger so I can retain more details"
Something along those lines. If that made any sense at all....
