Not sure if you saw this...
Thought I'd already replied to that...maybe I imagined it? :D

Anyway, yes! An embroidery guide would be lovely!

I'd read it, starrley!
I had not... :P
That would be awesome! Thank you.

I just wanted to say the guides that have been made so far are great and as I am new to cross stitching still I can't wait to see some of the other ones. I know the basics of it but thats about it. Thanks all for doing these they really help out.

Couple of things...
  • it's PC Stitch not PC Chart (though PC Chart makes more sense)
  • I would put french knots in a "specialty stitches" section that covers quarter stitches, half stitches, etc. Actually, I'm not sure we need to write this up, there is already a great guide here.
  • I'll cover the basics of resizing an image in Photoshop.
  • I'll cover the "What kind of images are good for cross stitch" (though really it's for charting any pattern).
  • There's a color conversion chart here
In fact, the site I linked too has a lot of things we want to cover. It is a personal site, but it's been up for years (though no longer updated I think). It's a great resource.

Corrected my list. Thanks for noticing.

I made it a speciality section, you're right, that's a good idea.
As to the other links, we want to have all the info on our forums, and not linking out. So we can become the new place to come to, and hopefully we'll keep it updated. :D
I'd prefer if someone could re-write them, but if not, just a copy and paste would do I think...
Note though: we have a "Stitches" section too, so you'd need to wait till that one was done to know what else we needed to put into the speciality stitches section.

There are a few out there which are the same. That's why we wanted to do this really. Make a guide book that's constantly updated, and improved on.
If there's anything on theta website that isn't on the list, give a shout, and we'll try and get that guide too.

Thanks for the clarification! I wasn't sure if we were making a stand-alone or a web-directory thing. I'm sure it's somewhere in a post i skimmed ;) It doesn't help that I have been working on web-directory projects at work and it's locked me into a certain way of thinking.

The color chart that I linked to is HUGE. I can convert it to a PDF so people can download it but linking to the source would be the easiest so that's why I linked it. There might also be a way to generate one in PC Stitch but I'm not sure how well it would work much less how accurate it is.

I'm passing on writing the specialty stitches section - I think I am already at my limit for guides atm.

Yeah that is HUGE. Just printing that whole page as a PDF is gonna be a fairly large - I'd guess at somewhere between 15-18MB. Linking would be easiest but if there is a way to save that as a smaller file that would be very useful (you never know when these little sites will vanish!)

Agreed! Though it looks like it's been up for over 10 years :)
Printing straight to a PDF the web page is 62 pages long (Holy sh*t). So The best thing to do might be to break it up into separate charts / reformat the charts into columns.
It would be a lot of work...
