A pattern program

I use KGchart, and I was trying to find a similar program for my friend who knits. Are there any out there that are free or cheap?

You can use KG for knitting, just make each square = one knit (or purl)
it just won't give you how big it will be.

I don't know if this kind of softwares exist... the problem if you use KG chart is that it gives you a chart with squares, and knitting stitches are more like 4/3 rectangles... for my "space invaders pullover" for example, I made rectangles of 3 stitches x 4 rows for 1 big square pixel...

Also, I'm not sure how the DMC numbers/colours match up with yarn.
