Taped embroidery/cross stitch hoop?

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting an embroidery hoop for smaller projects and I remember reading something about taping it. What does this mean? And do I need to do it?

I wouldn't tape it with tape. But you can cover a hoop or a frame with fabric. Makes your hoop less likely to stick/splinter to your project. Just use bias tape (cheap in any shop) of a not-likely-to-rub-off colour (white/offwhite) and wrap it around your hoop and stitch it down.
