@RMDC - Lol, I'd already planned on making a guide for it as it is such an important part of my amigurumi making so it's not that big of a deal. :P

@katdun - I may still use the Katamari for the first pattern as I haven't settled on how I want the yoshi's egg to be made, but it's an idea that can be done easily or more complex like...I haven't decided yet, but there's no reason I couldn't introduce a new pattern to showcase different designs/techniques. ;)

@kuja-girl - I will be including tips to help with tension, but from my own personal experience I know that lots of practice is the best thing to help even out tension. Also, amigurumi making lends it's self to adjustments if certain pieces are tighter/looser than others. Also, my mother has a camera that I will be allowed to film with so that's no longer a large issue, though you do bring up a good point about just linking to other videos. Most likely my free time will be the deciding factor for which path I take in the end. :nod

One major thing I learned is: work inside out!
Do a magic circle and then just work the other way around. (I've read it somewhere, but I'll look up where later)
It makes the shapes look way better, e.g. a circle will look like a circle and not egg-shaped. It was a major progress for me when I figured this one out :3

I know this is a weird request, but if you know of any good resources for left-handed people who want to crochet, I'd love to hear about it. I took a basic class and couldn't use my right hand to do anything, not even a simple chain, so I had to mirror my instructor's movements but it was extremely confusing for both of us. Any help would be appreciated!

It's not weird at all! :) I have a left handed friend who was mostly self taught but when we talked about it once, she said that the crochet guild of America had some good tutorials on the basic stitches. Enough to help her fill in the gaps and make something work for her at any rate. I don't know if you've tried them yet but I went ahead and linked to their lessons page. I know videos can help a lot of people though so I'll check out the ones that are out there and see what ones I can recommend for you. :)

That's a really good start, thanks so much for helping me! Videos are definitely helpful --I've learned a lot from Knitting Help by just watching their tutorials and I wish they had something like that for crochet. I'm so glad you decided to make a guide for amigurumi!

Edit: Apparently, there are videos for left-handed people! Here's a link to the About.com crochet page with lots of resources for lefties:

I'm not sure if they cover crochet, but I know a lefty who swears by this book-
