Scott Pilgrim Collage Aida fabric colour

Post by mrtjripley »

Hi Guys
Just after some advice. The next project I want to start on is the Scott Pilgrim Collage (pattern attached). Was wondering which colour Aida would work best? I have tried both white and black on KG-Chart to see what it would look like, but am still unsure. Black looks quite good when zoomed all the way out, but I'm worried that I'll lose some of the outlines of the characters because it is also black.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :D

It looks good with black or white! I wouldn't worry about black stitches fading into a black aida background - in my experience that doesn't happen. Instead, if you were to leave those black areas unstitched you might notice them more, if that makes sense. :)

Also, have you considered getting an aida that KGChart doesn't have in it's list? There are many, many colours available in all sorts of counts! :D

Thanks for the adivce. I hadn't considered using a colour other than black or white. Like I said, I'm still new to stitching and haven't been able to find a lot of materials easily in Adelaide. Do you have any ideas where I can get materials online?

I use ebay shops, mostly. A lot of them post worldwide and I can get specialist fabrics that way.

I'm assuming you're in Australia? If so, then I found this place by googling: http://sewitall.com.au/shop/index.php. They seem to have a nice range of coloured fabrics in different counts :)

Hope that helps!

awesome pattern btw... i would use a really funky color...they have a few really cool ones by charles craft online that are reasonable price wise.

You can see some of the funky colors here:

in person these are really really bright. Or you could go with a dyed piece like this:

or you could dye your own how you want with simple fabric dyes like this:
