I have a few finished cross stitch pieces I'd like to mount, but I've never done it before! I'd really like some tips on what you all do.
Is there a good way to mount a piece without putting it in a frame? Does mounting it on a thin board and adding hardware to hang it work at all?
Tips on framing would also be appreciated.

Re: Mounting cross stitch pieces
I found this to be a useful tutorial for framing: http://www.needlework-tips-and-techniqu ... titch.html It's not really hard, just kind of tedious to get the fabric taut and properly aligned (I usually end up pulling all the pins out and starting over at least a couple of times). So I must confess that for my last two projects, when I went to Michael's to get mats cut for framing, I had them do the mounting too
If you didn't want to use a frame, I bet you could mount the piece on foam board as in the framing tutorial, then attach a ribbon or something around the edges to hide the pins.

I've done something like that before too, but I find flat head pins work best, and you can put those on the back of the card, so you wont see them. This kinda makes it look like a canvas. You can attach hooks to the back to have them without a frame if you want, the weight of the stitch and card doesn't come to much, so you could probs just glue or tape the hook to the back and you won't have any problems.
