MARCH Challenge - Choose a theme!

Post by blackmageheart »

March is rapidly approaching so I want to start thinking about setting up the next challenge! It will be a one month thing!
So let's have your input on what you'd like to do.

Some previous unused ideas are:

Astrological signs / symbols
Magnet set
Family theme
Cake
Mini project (like, something really tiny)
One-game challenge (same game for everybody!)
Elements
Technology / Innovation
Ye Olde School

More ideas are always welcome, post away! :D

I think the mini-project idea would be really cool - we could even do a specific size, like 5x5 (stitches) or something. I also like the technology one, as I'm currently planning my Halloween Steam Punk themed wedding :)

As a new idea, I think video game themed nursery rhyme ( think Pac-Man turned into ring around the roses ) would be fun, but that may be better suited for a two-month challenge.

These are all really good ideas. The one I find most appealing is the mini project. Either a set size like Spin said, or mini as in tiny. Several of us have micro projects, and they're really fun.
A new idea would be an accessories challenge. Entries have to be something you can wear or use, e.g.: a necklace, a stitch on a t-shirt, a bookmark, a cover for a notebook, a needlebook, a hussif, etc. :D

I was thinking the other day, and I came up with two ideas.

1 - Games re-imagined/improved. Like megaman as an fps, or pokemon like pokemon tower defense.
2 - (As there seems to be no stitches of modern games) Pixelate modern games. So you could stitch flash portal, or, well, exactly like these:

Saying that, I really like the idea of something small. How about making it a slightly weird shape too? Like 5x20. Would make some interesting stitches...

:clapping: I like this - see how creative people can get in that amount of space. The only thing I wonder about is possibly setting a limit on the number of entries on this one, like maybe two? I know we don't usually do that, but I can totally see myself going totally crazy one night and stitching a whole stack of little strangely sized bits :D An entry limit would force me to pick my favorites to post.

I throw my chips in with the mini-oddly shaped project. It would interesting :)

I like the idea of a tiny challenge. Maybe less then the size of an American forever stamp? (7/8ths of an inch by an inch, or a little under 2.5 centimeters by a little over 2.5 centimeters).
