It is a totally legit and valid reason! The beta is stealing my best friend, too!Celes_Lionheart wrote:SWTOR Beta is stealing all my time! =D
You have a few more days, I'm sure you can get it done

Re: NOV Challenge - Game Items
I had a basic sprite pattern put together, but I sort of edited the colours as I went along. I'm not really sure what I used now, I'm sorry.gamerwolff wrote:I really like this even though im not really into pokemon...could you post the pattern please my 11 year old brother in law would really like this!

Re: NOV Challenge - Game Items
Mine's all done! Made the pattern on the 1st, started stitching on the 2nd, and finished last night (the 27th). My project features the hidden "Stop 'N' Swop" items from Banjo-Kazooie.

Here's some closeups:
Some of the eggs:
Ice Key: (each stitch is half normal thread, half metallic, so it shines a bit when in good lighting. Can't really see it here)
Removed pieces:
And here's a little description I have written up for people unfamiliar with the Banjo games or Stop 'N' Swop:
Banjo-Kazooie is a collectathon platformer for N64, which had a sequel called Banjo-Tooie, released two years later. The main collectables of the games are jigsaw pieces, known as Jiggies, hence the jigsaw puzzle theme of my project. There are minigames in both games where you put together puzzles that look like the setup I have here. The top row of my project (basically there just to take up space because the other items can't fit a puzzle of the correct dimensions) are just standard gold Jiggies. The other items are all secret bonus items that have quite a bit of mythology behind them.
While playing through the first game, you'll come across a few suspicious areas, including a giant ice key visible behind a wall, but out of reach. After beating the game 100%, a secret ending tells you that the ways to get these extra items (the magenta egg, ice key, and blue egg) will be revealed in the sequel. But when Banjo-Tooie came out, the items were gotten in that game by simply smashing open enemies shaped like N64 cartridges. There was also a yellow egg not seen in the original game. People were mostly dissatisfied with this resolution, and hackers found that Banjo-Kazooie actually has six eggs, all of which are collectable and appear on the same subscreen menu as the ice key, labled as "Stop 'N' Swop".
A dedicated community was formed to discover the purpose of these items, as they had no effects on gameplay and didn't unlock anything. Rare, the company that made the games, fueled the fire by explaining that they were meant to be collected in B-K, then transferred to B-T through a method known as hot-swapping, where you switch games quickly and the system's RAM is able to transfer the data. Many years passed with this community searching every inch of the games, looking for anything left in the coding that could hint towards this most well-hidden of secrets. And Rare didn't help matters, as they refused to come out with the absolute truth, and actually got on-board with some of the more elaborate hoaxes. Eventually they did come out and admit that the project was scrapped due to hardware changes, but the original planned Stop 'N' Swop (or some form of it) was included in the XBox 360 ports of the games.
I was a member of the RareWitchProject community back during the height of theorizing and obsession over this, and so I decided to make my project an homage to the biggest and most interesting video game secret of all time.
