Re: Stitching for Charity! (brainstorming)
I think if I get all of the squares in by Aug 1, I could definitely get 1-3 lap quilts done by Nov 1. If people start stitching these at the start of the year that will give plenty of time for slow stitchers and enough time for fas stitchers to send multiple squares.
The MOST important thing will be to make sure there is at LEAST 5 inches around the finished piece so it will be able to be quilted.

Ha ha, sorry! Just started panicking here!crabbyman wrote:haha, maybe I should have put a year on there, I meant NEXT December. I wouldn't even expect to be able to get my own done in that amount of time
Could we get a finalised size of stitching and border (perhaps in a nice simple diagram

Hey crabbyman
Um, so my fiance is wanting to do this with me as well, I don't believe he's ever signed up and made a username, but he has visited the site and the forums before. I was just wondering, how should I go about adding my stuff and his to your sheettable? Or should I force him to come up with his own username for the forums and add his own stuff? lol.

I don't know if anything fabric wise was officially finalized. I think for now we're going for:
16 count white aida
6"x6" (96x96 stitches) working space
We need a 5" border on each side so:
at LEAST 15"x15" total canvas size
Also, plan on sending $2-$3 per square to cover the cost of quilting materials(not finalized yet, but plan for it)
someone let me know if I'm wrong and I'll edit this post
Edited for my awful math

Doesn't really matter, as long as you know who it is. Stephi.Rose Jr.? The Stitcher formerly known as Stephi.Rose? I'm thinking I'll just post a list of the names and games when its time. I don't know when "time" is, so if anyone has any ideas when we should call it that would be great. Maybe we can shoot for mid-December (2010) to finalize the list.Stephi.Rose wrote: Um, so my fiance is wanting to do this with me as well, I don't believe he's ever signed up and made a username, but he has visited the site and the forums before. Everything you said above sounds good and sounds like what we all decided on. Your aida can be white, cream, or any shade of those. The aida doesn't have to all be exactly white to look good. Stay away from colored aida though, it will be hard to match the fabric to quilt.

Just a little thing, am totally fine with this but could the quilter maybe set up a paypal account or something that we can pay money to? I have no idea if I can even go to a travel agent and ask to change money in such small amounts! (its been a long time since I have been on a holiday abroad!)crabbyman wrote:Also, plan on sending $2-$3 per square to cover the cost of quilting materials(not finalized yet, but plan for it)

Re: Stitching for Charity! (brainstorming)
Just thought I might make a note about the 16x16 finished aida size most soft tubes of aida come in 15x18 and if I remember correctly the hard plastic tubes are 14x18 and I know the Michaels and Joann's by me don't carry 16 count in any of the larger sizes. Would it be terribly awful to make it 15x16 or 15x15? You'd lose about 1/2 an inch all the way around; just thought it might be useful to mention it now since I know I was planning on just getting the soft tubes with coupons (I am froogle... er cheap)
Also maybe we could finalize what themed quilts we are doing by mid november so people can start either claiming specific games or making patterns so that we don't get repeats on those quilts? Then we can finalize whose doing what for all the quilts, I'd suggest have everyone post there pattern/picture to make sure we don't get repeats or very similar squares ^_^

Re: Stitching for Charity! (brainstorming)
hmmm, good point on the fabric, I didn't think about that. We'll have to see what tnitnetny says. As a last resort I guess we could change the count to make it easier to find big pieces.
Mid-November sounds good to me, I just wanted to make sure everyone that was interested had a chance to find this thread and sign up. I agree on posting the patterns, I was going to suggest the same thing. More because I want to make sure I don't make something super simple compared to everyone else, but your reason sounds better
