Re: Stitching for Charity! (brainstorming)
Yurtle, we're still going to be doing a quilt of whatever game you want so you're not compelled to participate in the themed ones. It looks like we're going to be making a total of 3 quilts (at least, thanks tnitnetny!) based on people's interest. One will be Zelda themed, one will be Final Fantasy themed and one will be whatever games people send in. Since the themed quilts are a bit more specific we thought it would be good to get some pattern ideas down earlier to try to eliminate any overlap.
I hope that's clear, and I'm glad it came up so I can clarify. We want to be as inclusive as possible so don't get discouraged, you can still make a square(s) based on whatever you want, I certainly wouldn't be very motivated to make something off of a game I had no stake in.

Re: Stitching for Charity! (brainstorming)
Since I signed up for the Zelda quilt, I'd figured I might as well see if the idea I had for a square would be workable at all.
I found toying with the spritesheets and tilesets a tad too much fun I think, because a little while later I found myself with a full image.
I know we don't have to have anything finished yet, but I'd figured I'd let you guys have a look to see if you like it and such.
This is what the image looks like after me running it through kg-chart and making some adjustments to the colors: This fellow is my favourite boss and always one of the first things to come to mind when I think of aLttP, so couldn't help but turn him into a pattern.
If you've got any comments, I'll be glad to hear them.
It's my first time working with KG-Chart. I like it, but I'm a tad unsure about some of the colors it picked.
I have a skein of DMC 939 around and it looks blueish to me while KG-Chart tells me it should look brown.....

Ohh I love that boss....almost as much as the Armos knightsPandora wrote:This fellow is my favourite boss and always one of the first things to come to mind when I think of aLttP, so couldn't help but turn him into a pattern.

Nice to see somebody's already thinking about patterns, and I like yours very much ^^

I NEVER trust the colors on KG-Chart...except black and white. I always pull this page up --->http://www.photopattern.com/075dmcolors.jpg, along with any floss I already have, and choose my colors that way.Pandora wrote:It's my first time working with KG-Chart. Awesome! Thank you so much for clarifying. I thought that after you got the votes in you decided to only do the two themed quilts. I'm probably going to PopCap it up with a Plants vs Zombies square then for mine! I might be able to do a second square, possibly Chuzzle related but I'd have to see how the first one went. Mario would be awfully fun too. I'll have to see what I can come up with.

Actually, if I hadn't been able to fit Moldorm on that pattern I would have gone with the armos knights instead! I love those dancing statues.blackmageheart wrote:Ohh I love that boss....almost as much as the Armos knights

And thank you, I'm glad you like the pattern.

That page is going straight into my favourites, it's brilliant.DontCrossMe wrote:I NEVER trust the colors on KG-Chart...except black and white. I always pull this page up --->http://www.photopattern.com/075dmcolors.jpg, along with any floss I already have, and choose my colors that way.

I think my problem might mostly be that the colors look different in kg chart because of the other colors surrounding them, but if I remain unsure about any of them I'll be using that page to pick new ones.

And again, thank you, I'm glad you like the pattern.

Re: Stitching for Charity! (brainstorming)
It could be that - I do know that some monitors (and monitor settings) sometimes make the on-screen colours look odd. I use a dual TFT monitor set up (my monitors aren't identical) and the colours look completely different depending on which monitor I have KG on - and totally different again from my old CRT! But, I still always check the floss before I stitch, because KGChart sometimes goes berserkPandora wrote:I think my problem might mostly be that the colors look different in kg chart because of the other colors surrounding them, but if I remain unsure about any of them I'll be using that page to pick new ones..

Nice link, I shall also be bookmarking that one! ^^DontCrossMe wrote: I NEVER trust the colors on KG-Chart...except black and white. I always pull this page up --->http://www.photopattern.com/075dmcolors.jpg, along with any floss I already have, and choose my colors that way.
EDIT: Just found a saved version of that linked jpg on my pc...lol I'll bookmark it anyway

I'm letting you guys handle this project, its nice to not have to organize something...
would you like a post on the main blog asking for volunteers to help? let me know if you'd like one.

Re: Stitching for Charity! (brainstorming)
While it would be nice to get more contributors I'm concerned that very widespread participation could turn this fun little project into a logistical nightmare. We only have one committed quilter right now so the number of people participating might get out of hand. It seems like we have a pretty good participation level right now, so personally I think we should just let this be a forum run thing. If more people stumble into it that's great, and as is I think we're off to a fantastic start for a first year effort. That's just my two cents.

Re: Stitching for Charity! (brainstorming)
I think a shout out to potential quilters might be a good idea, but I think we're covered with cross-stitchers. Just my opinion.
