Mario handtowels and Mario 3 box

Post by tnitnetny »

I made these for a powder room. I got the pattern from Koe here on the boards and not sure where she found it. It was part of a larger mario cart racing pattern.

I made this box/holder for a desk to put pens, pencils, scrissors, etc in (so there is no top). I got the idea from etsy and then took 3 of the characters from coasters someone else made. The Tanooki pattern was found by a friend somewhere on the internet. (That is my business card holder in the background that I also got the idea from Etsy and tweaked it).

I am not creative at all. I can't think of projects or ideas, but when I see others ideas, I can tweak it a little and make it into what I want. I absolutely LOVE this site. I already have a backlog of ideas and projects I need to get working on.

Awesome! I've been wanting to do something like this, but make little picture frames. With 3d projects, do you glue the pieces of perler together when you done or do you some how melt them on top of each other???

its a good use for perler beads, that and you could make a ds case or something.

I really like the towels. Can you actually use them or are they just for show?

If you make 3d projects with perler beards, then definitely use glue. I used a glue gun although other people like to use rubber cement of one type or another.

I actually messed the box up a touch (it was my first one) because I didn't shorten 2 of the sides. 2 of the pieces should be 1 less vertical row on either side. I realized this when glueing it. I had to try to force the beads into spaces and ended up gluing one side outside the base for it to fit. If you shorten 2 of the ends, it would glue together easier.

I will definitely use the towels. I made them for a male friend of mine who lives alone and doesn't have any towels in his bathroom. His theory is "that is why you have pants". Of course when I visit, it is a pain for me. He absolutely loves Mario so I was hoping this would encourage him to put towels in the bathroom. It is a very very easy project so if any of the stitches fall out from washing, I can easily fix it. Each towel actually only took about 2 hours to cross stitch.

This is a FABULOUS project! I made the box for my son to use for his Valentine's Party at school! I had to swap out 2 sides and make them white with ? boxes because I was out of blue! Next time, I'm going to just order the beads online already sorted. That way I know I'll have enough for what I want to do. I think I may re-use the box to hold his birthday cards or use it to hide the weight for helium balloons. There are so many ideas and so little time (His birthday is in 13 days LOL). thanks for posting a great craft!

I didn't even think to use boxes to hide the weights for helium balloons! I am throwing a party in a few months and that has given me some great ideas!

Thanks for giving me even more ideas!

I wonder...how wide can I make the controller? I'd like to make it wide enough to lay silverware in it or something else to make it a decoration for my son's party. I may have to experiment some tonight after all my kiddos go to bed.
