How did you draw your gridlines?

I have one of those HD crafting lights that I 'borrowed' from my brother-in-law. My MIL bought it for him b/c he wanted a light in his bedroom. He doesn't craft or anything so he has no use for an expensive crafting lamp, so I just casually took it off his hands last time we visited! Also, I try to focus on the lighter stuff first, so there's more to see the contrast when I get to the dark stuff. Fortunately, (at least for dark world) I'm mostly done with the forest. I do still have times where I can't quite tell if there's a dark green stitch or not somewhere. If I can't tell, and there's supposed to be one there, I just assume it'll work out fine. I know there's about 20 or so 'major' errors in what I've done so far, but I can't find them, so I know no one else will either. I was originally planning to do it on white fabric, but I wanted the gap in black, and it seemed a bit to much to do an extra 9,000 stitches just to be able to use white.

I'm not ENTIRELY sure what it is. It was packaged as an 'embroidery pencil'. It looks and acts like a colored pencil, but it wears off like a chalk pencil. I originally tried a blue chalk pencil, but it was hard to see on black, and I had trouble keeping a sharp enough tip to be able to draw the lines. Actually, I first used spare thread to block it, but that very quickly got obnoxious trying to work around the blocking. I got this pencil from Michael's for like a dollar, and it's been great. I have a little trouble telling EXACTLY where the line is, so i end up counting the whole way anyway, but it helps.

Sounds like tailor's chalk to me :)

Ok...so I got another 1/2 page done or so before I burned out again, then a couple months ago got back into and finished that page and nearly finished the last page on the row, only to burn out again after about a week or so. Last night I felt the urge to go back to it...Actually, I felt the urge to watch Dr. Who, which I only watch while stitching, so...lol.

I feel more netflix coming on, which means more stitching! We just bought a house, and I want to be able to put this on the wall EVENTUALLY, so I gotta finish! :link :tri

Also, I've recently taken to holding random objects above my head after trying to find them (like car keys or my wallet).... :P

I'm so excited to see another WIP shot! This is one of those projects I'd like to try *someday*, but probably will. I'm having fun living vicariously through you :D

It looks really great so far, I'm also happy you hopped back on for this one. I've contemplated doing it, but I'm lazy so I hope you do it! Also, stitching on black fabric is a pain in the butt, but it looks awesome, so keep it up! We're here for support!

When I'm on a roll, the fabric doesn't bother me at all, but it takes a bit to get readjusted to it every time I pick it back up. Every time, I get frustrated and wish I'd just stuck with white, but I think it'll be worth it in the end. If I remember right, it saves me about 10,000 black stitches between the two maps!
