That looks awesome. I love the quilting. Did you use any tools to help you cut the squares? Also, cool, glad I could inspire 
Good call on the larger squares. I want to try this again with 2" squares since my 1" (unfinished) was just plain silly. I had the same problems so very little seam allowance to work with.
