This makes me want to "park" my threads. But I think with my clumsiness somehow they would all get pulled out & I'd turn over my piece & see a huge matted knot. This method must be saving you a ton of time & probably saving floss as well.

When I went through my parking phase, I would use those thin metal barrettes to keep my threads neat.stitchingmama wrote:This makes me want to "park" my threads. Re: Zelda: A Link To The Past Map (Light World)
I used the parking method for a few areas when making the dark world map. My biggest problem with parking was my kitty was really interested in it as well. That typically resulted in thread being chewed and the needle dropping on to the rug, which made it invisible until my boyfriend stepped on it. It really wasn't worth the whining I heard from him after that.stitchingmama wrote:This makes me want to "park" my threads. But as long as I limited it to less than five colors, and threads short enough that I could finish them up in one sitting, the parking method worked up rather quickly. I like the idea of using barrettes to keep everything neat and tidy.

I've been thinking about doing the light world map for some time. How do you feel about the color choice from the pattern you linked?

I like clips like those ^^ because I am cheap. Just gather up your threads, in a small area, and make a long, loose loop (to shorten the amount of hanging thread), and then snap it in the clip. Easy peasy, and works pretty well.
If you try it, let me know how you like it!

That's exactly what I was picturing. I had loads of them of them when I was a kid but I probably don't have any right now. I think I need to invest in some!

How fun...can't wait to see more progress!
Never thought about parking...will have to think about it more!

The only thing that isn't so much fun, with regards to parking, is the cat. She's destroyed my thread loops more times than I care to count....
