One of my favourite games back in the day was Megaman so I started with him first, but it didn't quite go according to plan, I did a few others afterwards to hone my skill.
I did metroid, tanooki mario, a tetrad which I put on a card for my Mum's birthday (she used to play tetris quite a lot) a duck from duckhunt in 3 different positions of flight (which I intend one day to frame and put up individually diagonally on my wall, see link below) and then I went back and did Megaman properly.
More recently I have tried cross stitch, it was an alternative coloured bowser for my brothers birthday, it again didn't go exactly as I wanted it too, it looks kinda stylised though, it's a learning curve I guess.
