I bought Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition Turbo Plus Mega Thirty Mile Long Title when it dropped to ten bucks on sale. I couldn't download it, though, since I still had the 4GB SD card that came with my 3DS XL, and simply having Harvest Moon: ANB and Fire Emblem: Awakening meant there wasn't enough room for SSFIV3DETPMTMLT. So I got a ten billion gig SD card and finally got to download SSFIV3DETPMTMLT.

... Only to chalk it up on my (blessedly short) list of 3DS games that were a complete waste of money, alongside New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Pushmo/Pullblox. :(

I remember when fighting games got big on combo systems. Sure, the Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter games had combos almost by accident, but then a corner was turned in the late '90s. The first combo-heavy game that crossed my radar was Killer Instinct (the SNES version; I pretty much hated the N64 and every damn game it spawned). I really loved Killer Instinct. The combo system made sense to me, since it followed a jan-ken-pon sort of pattern. I don't think any fighter has captured that simplicity since (barring, perhaps, the Smash Bros. series). Fast forward to 201X, when combos are described in terms of single frames and fades and cancels and lags. Count me the frack out.

Our GM is coming into his final year of college and asked for a break so we've just started a new RPG that I am TERRIBLY EXCITED about!!

We're playing the old WestEnd d6 Star Wars RPG! I'm so excited!! I played it back in college and have very fond memories of it, and so far its lived up to what I remember- easy to play and lots of fun.

My man and I have also been playing a lot of the Hearthstone Beta at the minute. Its actually pretty damn good all things considered. Managed to keep the flavor from WoW with decent mechanics and some thought involved. I'd recommend it.

I just bet Link Between Worlds, which was awesome. Lots and lots of minecraft, I always end up going back, I just love how mindless it really is. I am going to start on Mass Effect 2 soon, now that I don't have silly school in my way anymore

I've been looking around for a print copy of the West End SW to no avail. You're lucky, Eliste. :nod

Halfway through The Last of Us (amazing!) and just started playing Shining Force on Mega Drive. I love re-visiting my favourite Mega Drive games...they never disappoint :)

Mario Kart and more Mario Kart.

I'd love to finally finish Zelda Twilight Princess or start on Skyward Sword, which I got for my birthday over 3 years ago and have barely been able to touch.

We've also just barely started Mario Galaxy 2. The first one of those is the game that made me so dizzy I fell off the couch.

Also, Kingdom Hearts. I started replaying the 1st and the 2nd is staring at me.

I know, I am so behind. It's like I'm living in another decade.

You have no idea how much I wish it was sometimes. We've been playing on the wii and by 'playing' I mean being directed by a 3 yr old. I hand each girl a steering wheel and sometimes set up cars for them as well but that usually leads to one of them pressing the pause button every 5 seconds so lately I've just taken out the batteries. The older sassy pants picks a character and then the car and then the circuit and then after one race she's decided another character sounds like fun. When I want to drive my husband absolutely batty I'll encourage her to race by herself. He can't stand to watch her drive in circles at the beginning of the track and it's fun to watch him squirm. :)

I am halfway through LoZ: A Link Between Worlds (borrowed from Mom) and the hubs and I are rapidly making our way through Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. I am loving this freaking game - it seriously takes me back to a time when games were exciting and I didn't care if I had a strategy guide because it wasn't about getting everything, it was about advancing the story! Miyazki's involvement certainly doesn't hurt, either. I love the little references to his movies.
Current projects:
Leftover swap gifts
HP House Scarves
Secret of Mana charity square
Vid game advent calendar
