I came across an adorable wallpaper on google images and think I'd love to x-stitch it. I took out the background and cropped, and here's the image:
I'm looking for something around 8 x 10 (for easy framing) but I don't really understand the mechanics of pattern creation, so if it has to be bigger, that is fine. Ditto on the colors...I'm not really sure what would look good.
I liked this so much I did my own version, modified the colors a bit. There's a lot of half stitch, but it makes the lines really sharp. I would do it over 2 on 28 count fabric, it would be about 10 x 14 in, but there's no background so it's not as much stitching. If you did it on 18 count it would be about 8 x 11 in, 28 colors.
I'm sorry! It means basically you use 28 count fabric, and instead of making the x on one square, you double it, so essentially you're using four little squares to make one x. It's easier to do it that way when you're doing any kind of specialty stitch. This is one of my favorite designers, she has a bunch of free designs on her website, and each one comes with a diagram for specialty stitches. http://www.twdesignworks.com/Free/index.html
Oh, I never thought about that. So the fabric basically becomes 14 ct. Interesting. I've never really had trouble with quarter stitches, but it would be much easier and more even with a hole in the middle. Thanks for the tip!
And the link is very cool, I must read it more later when I don't have homework... hehe.
