My first finished project- Ravenclaw crest! (also, hi!)

Hi! I was so, so excited when I found the Sprite Stitch blog, and then the forums with all the wonderful people and inspiration, and I told my fiance that I was going to start cross stitching- it was hilarious, the look he gave me, until I showed him the awesome, geeky things you can do with it! My first finished project took me about two months, I tried to finish it by Christmas for my friend but was a little late.
I have another friend who wants me to do the light world map from A Link to the Past, but I need to finish a smaller project first, and then work on something for our wedding!

This was your first ever cross-stitch? Wow, impressive!
It looks very good. Your stitches are so neat. Welcome to cross-stitching! It's addicting. And welcome to Sprite Stitch! It's awesome.

I like it because it's very methodical, I can do anything with instructions or a pattern, so I just love how easy I found it to be! I can't wait to start on more things

Oops, sorry! It's a habit that I always go straight to the video game projects section, so I posted there without thinking. Thanks for moving it!
Thanks everyone, I feel so welcome! Does anyone have any tips you wish someone had told you when you first started out? I'm pretty much just going off what I've seen and one small tutorial on how to do the stitching (first one way, then the other for the whole thing) and that's about it. I want to get some books on it, but tips are nice!
