Soooo....not sure if anyone can help with making a pattern for this, I've recently gotten a strange cross stitch request from a friend! He'd like a 64 tetrahedron grid made...I'm fairly new at this, so I'm stumped. Anyone bored and want to help?!

Are you mainly looking for recommendations on how to turn the picture into a pattern? If so, with something this line heavy, I'd recommend doing it in back stitch only. Possibly varying the number of threads used it give the illusion of depth and line thickness in places.

I have a program that I'm using (PM stitch), and I found a better outline (without so many lines on the inside of the entire shape)...but I can't for the life of me get a decent outline in that program. It doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to just to a basic outline of this in my program...then again I'm not an expert with the program, so I'm not sure if there's some setting I'm not using correctly. I used GIMP to make a basic outline of it: Image

Should I just give up with the program and try to do it on graph paper? Sorry to ask a million questions!

Ah questions are good! How else do we learn or find answers unless we ask? ^_^

As far as I know, just importing an image into any of those programs will only make it a cross-stitches. To get the proper geometrical lengths, I'd recommend making it on the graph paper, at least in the first part, where every square is one cross-stitch square. Then if you'd like, input it into the program by hand so you have a digital copy. Hope it works out alright! :D

I think I'll work with my old fashioned graph paper! Thanks so much for your help! :)

Or, what you could do is to print the picture out and sticky tape it to a light coloured piece of fabric, trace over the design with pencil then stitch the design from there.
Just another idea :)
