My first amigurumi!

I bought yarn and some crochet books a long time ago intending to learn how to make amigurumi, but never got around to it. With my impending job starting on Monday (should I be happy? Right now it sounds like a lot of work. haha.) I decided to finally get that done while I had the time. I present to you Millard the Hedgehog:

Millard is a rock star! I looked at him and immediately got the image of thousands of shrieking teenage boys crowding around, reaching their hands out, hearts racing, eyes gleaming. "Millard!" they cry. Someone swoons.

I'm not joking. This is 100% what Millard inspired in my brain the moment I saw him, no delay.

I think I might need more sleep.

That is pretty stinkin awesome! Especially for your first one!

I tried to make a bear that I was going to give to my secret pal at work, and needless to say, she got candy instead...

Great job!

hehe that's what would happen if I tried too. I'm not very good at knitting or crochet :)

Thanks, guys! I'm really happy with it, and somewhat surprised it actually resembles the form it's supposed to. The next one I want to make is a Pikachu, but I'll have to learn how to switch colors for that.

The spiky bit was surprisingly difficult to do!! It was really hard to see through the fuzz to count my stitches or even see what I was hooking onto. Luckily, that mess is buried in spiky fur :)

So cute! This is a project I would love to learn, but I have so much on my plate right now that I may have to wait a few years to learn it. lol

Great job! I can't believe it's your first one. I kept the first one I ever made, only because it's so hilarious. No one would ever be able to tell that it's supposed to be a dog. I went with it and gave it button eyes in two different sizes.

Millard still sits proudly on my desk at work, so I made another crochet critter for my friend who is having a baby this week, a monkey and banana!

The banana is so cute and can come out of the peel. Got the patterns from LuvlyGurumi on Etsy.
